WR2 Periodic Inspections of
Electrical Installations
Buildings owners in Hong Kong with an approved loading exceeding 100 Amp (single or three phase) electricity supply are required by law[1] to undertake a periodic inspection and testing of the electrical installation every five years, and obtain a certificate. This process is more commonly known simply as WR2 (and WR2A).

Certain premises, specifically licensed premises, public entertainment venues, karaoke bars, and the like are required to undertake more frequent inspections. The form WR2 means the electrical installation has been inspected, tested and certified.

Kelcroft's
WR2 services include:
- condition surveys
- arranging WR2 inspections
- tendering WR2 remedial works
- verify installations comply with code
Kelcroft's expertise provides peace of mind for building
owners that the building meets the code.
Why do I need a WR2 inspection?
Holding a valid Form WR2 is mandatory government requirement, furthermore it
is good practice to have a regular check-up.
You wouldn't run a car for five years without a tune up would you? No, it
makes sense to have a regular checking to ensure everything is working right.
WR2 periodic inspection covers electrical systems not subject to regular scrutiny
Furthermore the WR2 periodic inspection covers the common areas, not subject to regular scrutiny. In the past electrical installation serving corridor lighting, lifts systems, and water systems have failed causing distress and disruption for the occupants.

The WR2 is a basic safety inspection to ensure that the electrical systems are safety, properly functioning and property earthed.
Form WR2 (or WR2A) shall be issued by registered electrical contractor, endorsed
by EMSD.
